In hospital
(inpatient) consultation

I am a consulting psychiatrist to the following hospitals:

A referral is required

I can assist patients who have been admitted to hospital and may be experiencing changes in mood, anxiety, memory or behavioural health.

Other reasons for referral may include temporary continuity of psychiatric care if there are stable pre-existing conditions and inpatient medical care is currently required.

Often your specialist, nursing care or allied health providers may suggest referral, however, individual or family/carer requests are also appropriate.  In these circumstances please speak with staff to arrange a referral.

All billing is no-gap billing direct to your private health fund.

Practice Information

A referral is required from a general practitioner or specialist and is required prior to making an appointment.

This practice is a specialist telehealth practice. This allows access for rural and remote residents of Queensland and also access for RACF (nursing home) residents without the need to travel.

COVID-19 telehealth options allow for metropolitan residents to access telehealth and a fee applies (medicare refund available).

The latest secure, Australian technology is utilised. It is recommended that a reasonable internet speed is available to ensure adequate connectivity. Connections can be made via any smartphone, device or computer. Camera and microphone is required.

A test run prior to your appointment is available. An access link is available from within this website if you misplace your welcome email.

This is a secure process, however, we do recommend beginning your consultation in a suitable location free from distractions. Many GP practices can offer a dedicated room for telehealth if you do not have the technology at home. Please enquire with your GP if this may be required.

New consultations are 45-50 minutes. Follow up consultations are 15-20 minutes. If an extended follow up appointment is required this is 45-50 minutes.

These are accommodated as much as possible although referral to emergency care options may be required.

Emergency and after-hours care is not available. If there are concerns during these times and urgent care is required please contact either 000, your general practitioner or present to your nearest hospital emergency department.

This practice requires 24 hours notice of any cancellations so as to offer the appointment time to people currently on a wait list. A fee may apply for missed appointments so please contact the practice as soon as possible if you are unable to attend your appointment.

Requests for scripts outside of appointments may not always be possible.

Please contact to discuss.

Fees are applicable for outpatient consultations and report writing. In-hospital consultations are billed to health funds as ‘no-gap billing’.

This practice does not offer medico-legal assessments.

This practice complies with current requirements.
We are not able to discuss your care with others without your authorisation.
In the event of serious concerns regarding your well-being or that of others it may be required to alert emergency services or nominated contacts.

All consultations are confidential and private except when significant psychiatric risks are identified and further urgent management is required which may involve contacting support persons or emergency services

Dr Theodoratos is a consulting psychiatrist in general hospitals only and does not admit patients under his care to psychiatric hospitals.
